Omar Morales via desinglanguage.comLawsuits in the smartphone market are flying all over the place. But who are the suitors and who is been sued?
As of October 8th 2010:
Nokia is by far the biggest lawsuit friendly with eight outgoing lawsuits while been sue by two others.
Kodak follows Nokia with five outgoing lawsuits and no incoming.
Apple is the number one target been sued by five while suing two others.
Motorola has three incoming and one outgoing.
Sharp has three incoming and no outgoing.
Qualacomm has one outgoing and one incoming both against Nokia.
Oracle is suing Google, Google is not suing anyone (yet)
Rim has two outgoing lawsuits. No one is suing them.
Microsoft has one outgoing against Motorola.
Sony-Ericsson, Toshiba and Hitachi each have one incoming lawsuit with no outgoing.
HTC & Elan each has one outgoing lawsuit both against Apple.
While many of this patent lawsuit have overlapping claims and the outcome is hard to predict one thing is for sure. The end user will be the big loser because manufactures will pass them their legal and licensing fees witch will result in an even higher price on future handsets.
