You may be eating two pounds of insects without knowing it.

You may be very picky when it comes to food. Or you may eat almost anything. But I don't think you will like to know that you are eating from one to two pounds of insects and rodents each year. And all without even knowing it at least until today. You are eating insects fragments including beetle heads and legs, cockroaches, maggots, fly and even rodents parts. 

Rodent Excrement and HairThats according to a study from Ohio State University and confirmed by the Federal Drugs & Foods Administration (FDA).  And according with the FDA this is perfectly allowed by them and its even called "natural contaminates"  The FDA even created a guide thats states how much is allowed. This guide is called the "Food Defect Action Levels"

This is permitted because it will not be economically feasible for growers and food processors to get rid of all of this insects & rodents parts and other contaminates.  

And if you think this is not normal and a rarity you are wrong. This is in fact very common and here is a sample of some of the things on your food.

Noodles & Macaroni 

225 insects parts or more and 4.5 rodent hairs or more per each 225 grams.

Canned Fruits

Five or more fly eggs and one or more maggots per each 250 ml.

Chocolates

Sixty insects parts and one or more rodent hair per each 100 grams.

Fish

In up to 3% of fish are presents one or more parasites and pus.

Popcorn

One or more rodent excrement pellets & two or more rodent hairs per pounds up to 50% of the time.

Are you in danger?

According to the FDA and the growers you are not. They claim that in facts is healthy. They said that the only way to get rid if possible of all of this will be to increase the use of pesticides. This they said will be more dangerous that eating the insects and rodents. Insect Parts and Eggs

Others disagree and said that you may get stomach problems and allergies from eating insects and rodents.

 While in most foods you may find all kinds of things if you look closely. The ones more full of insect meats are grounded ones like jelly, peanut butters and process chocolates. Noodles and pastas are also hight on insect proteins.

And did you know that under the perfect conditions and with some time the insects eggs on some of the foods you eat may hatch. All this sound creepy but it seems that unless you stop eating their is no way to stop it.

I know this will make my insect loving sister Miriel really hungry but for the most of us is a nasty thing.
