How To Make Your MacBook Pro Battery Last 6 + Hours

I had been on the road all this week and has been relaying on my iPhone and Macbook Pro to do my work and surf the web.

But my MacBook Pro battery was dying prematurely lasting only from 2.5-3.5 hours. I know this is not normal as my battery should last at least 5 hours.

So were is the problem and how can I fix it. This is what I did, found and fix.

First I opened the Activity Monitor (located on Applicationsāž”Utilities) Their I looked to see what was using the most CPU as I know the more the CPU is used the faster your battery drains.

I found out that Adobe flash was using a ridiculous 68% of my CPU. So I closed the application and my battery meter when from 2:34 left to 4:44.

The problem is that as soon as I visit a site that uses Flash (8 out of 10) the CPU use will skyrocket and it won't go down even when I leave the site a none flash one.

Solution. I downloaded ClickToFlash (Free App) This will block all Flash content and if you need it just click the section of Flash you need and presto.

I use ClickToFlash when on the road and need to save my battery. When I am home I will disable it.

I also reduced my screen brightness to 50%.

By doing just this two things my battery is now averaging 5.50-6.25 hours. Not bad when a power outlet is a commodity.

I just wish Adobe will make a better version of Flash.

My system is a 13" 2.53 Ghz MacBook Pro.
