Shame on RedBox & WB

I  am big movie guy. And I spent lots of money each month getting them. I mean I go to the movies, rent online and on kiosk and purchase about 5-10 blu-rays and DVDs each month.

But what I will not do is buy a movie I haven't see first. So I relay heavily on RedBox for my rentals.

Like I have mention in many other blogs post and articles I was very proud at them for defending their business models against the abusive practices of the studios.

The filed a anti-trust lawsuit against Fox and Warner Brothers because of their actions trying to prevent new releases from being available to RedBox customer at the same time they were made available for sale.

But RedBox disanointed me and many others. They announced today that they will be making WB movies available only after 28 days since it original release.

I called RedBox support and their customer service reps very attentive and professional like always told me that they do this in order to make sure they get the disc from WB and that movies from other distributors will be available on release date.

The problem I have with this is dot what will problem other distributor from demanding the same terms. I mean I have been having a hard time finding Fox releases lately. I guess we were be hearing a new press release with a similar announcement soon.

I am really disapointed with them and will be getting my movies from other sources like Netflix. I know Netflix had a similar deal with WB but at least they offer the added value of streaming content.

Why I do not support piracy in any way I had heard from other contacts that they will just use torrents to get the new releases instead of over paying to rent or buy. On my part I just plan to boycott WB (along with Fox) and never buy a new DVD from them.

Don't let abusive, anti-competitive and anti-consumer companies win. Boycott RedBox, WB and Fox.
