Selecting A Web Hosting Provider

There is a lot of competition between shared hosting providers for websites these days. With a simple search, you can find hundreds of lists of companies that are considered within the top ten of the industry, which can make it very difficult to choose which company will provide the best service with the least amount of down time at the best price. To make it easier, a shared hosting provider is one that shares the resources of a server with its customers. Depending on the size of the server, you could have as many as a thousand customers sharing the space on one server. For small companies who simply want to advertise their products or get their company name to as many people as possible, this is a great way to save money.
The shared hosting providers make it easy to upload a web page, with many of them providing 24/7 customer support for questions or problems you may have via phone, internet, or email. They offer free setup, software, and other add on programs to help get your new site up and running with as few issues as possible. Many of these companies also make daily backups of your site to help prevent any downtime of your site as well as having the ability to manage many different types of programming language.
A good shared hosting provider will also provide a spam policy, secure ordering, guarantees on the cost of hosting your site, and easy transfers from one hosting company to another. They will also be able to provide a sufficient amount of bandwidth and be able to extend more space on their server as your company grows and it is necessary to expand the size of your website.
A few things to watch for are the bait and switch tactics of low prices. All of the registries have to pay a price of $6.00 for each of the domains they sell. A common tactic is to lure you in with a lower price by a subsidiary company and then at the time of renewal place you under the parent company at a much higher rate or to simply go out of business leaving many customers with nothing at all.
