Omar Morales Two days after Google anounced shut down it China search operations after hacking and censorship issues. GoDaddy has also ended its operation in China.
GoDaddy decision to no longer register domains in China comes after the Chinese government asked for identification and id of all domains registered in China.
Google and GoDaddy are not only doing this on moral grounds it is also a busness decision. The companies allege that the restrictions and censorship by China and other goverments are affecting trade.
The companies asked a Congressional comission to draft trade legislation that address the censorship on the internet.
At the moment their are 40 countrys that filters the internet at some level and 25 that completly blocks Google.com.
In my opinion companies that comply with censorship and hand over decedent information are in complicity of what ever happens to does individual that in some cases is even murder.
On the trade issue if US companies can't freely do business in other countries those countries should be penalized with import tariff or other restrictions.
I applaud Google and GoDaddy for their brave actions.
