Looking For An Android Smartphone? Avoid Samsung

Omar Morales I will keep this short. If you are looking to get a new Android powered smartphone or upgrade from a previous one. You already know that there are many devices available in all major carriers.
Samsung Galaxy SThis smartphones are made by a lot of different manufactures. But their is one in specific you should avoid. And that's Samsung.
Why? Well Android is a great OS and many phones out there have the power to exploit it because of awesome hardware that will not make you phone obsolete in 3 months.
But in order to take advantage of new futures and improvment on the Android OS you need to get updates. Kind like what Apple does with the iPhone OS.
The problem here is that the manufacture of the phone and not Google control the update process for their phones and in that area Samsung sucks big time.
When it come to after-sale support Samsung is virtually non-existent. Take this into account when Samsung released it first Adroid phone the Behold ll. A lot of folks were really exited. As the hardware looked promising and the Samsung brand was better know than HTC at the time.
But the Behold ll came a full year after HTC G1. And over a year later the the Behold ll still runs Android 1.5 and until recently their were no plan for any update. Samsung just say they will offer a update to 1.6 "soon" but that comes to late for many. Even G1 owner have had Android 1.6 for over a year and most Android phone now runs 2.0 and 2.1 with most getting 2.2 soon.
HTC the true powerhouse behind Android phone and T-Mobile announced that the old MyTouch 3G and the Slide will get updated to 2.2 as well. But Samsung will just upgrade the Behold to 1.6 when everyone else is
HTC EVO 4G getting over it.
Samsung said it plans to increase it smarphone market share from 5% to 10% by year end. I will be surprise if that happens but I guess is possible when lots of people just believe the sale pitch without doing any research. Yeah the same sales pitch like the one that said the Behold ll was upgradable up to Android 2.0 and we see that wasn't the case.
So if you want to take advantage of Android for a while get your phone from HTC or Even Motorola.
Avoid this phones from Samsung that while they look good now trust me they aren't worth it.
- Samsung Galaxy S
- Samsung Captivated (variant of Galaxy S for At&t)
- Samsung Vibrant (variant of Galaxy S for T-Mobile)
- Any Android phone made by Samsung
I recomend you the following ones:
- For T-Mobile Nexus One by HTC/Google
- For Verizon Droid or Droid X by Motorola
- For Sprint EVO 4G by HTC
- For At&t HTC Aria

Some recommended reasons TO buy:
1) The US versions of these phones have been rooted so obtaining custom updated ROMs will not be a problem by going to sites like xda-developers.com.
2) Being that variants of this phone will be on multiple US carriers this phone will have demand for developers to create custom ROMs.
3) The technology on this device is cutting edge which will fuel developers and consumers to acquire this phone.
4) As it closely resembles the iPhone the Samsung Vibrant will be a good migration device for those who are disenchanted with Apple.
5) The Android OS coupled with TouchWiz is a lot less limited than Apple's iOS.
Just to name a few
