The Real Reason We Are Mad At Dear Netflix

Omar Morales Today it has been a Netflix baching spree. Twitter, Facebook and Google Plus were on fire with the Netflix hate post.
But there is a valid reason for this. People are not up in arms just because they have to pay 50-70% more that translates to around $5-$7 more a month.
The real reason people are mad is because Netflix acted in an arbitrary one sided way. Netflix did not show any appreciation to the millions of loyal customer that have been with them for years (I joined in 2000).
They did not grad-fathered any account and what its worst did not even offer a discount for current subscribers. People do not like to be taken for granted and in the way Netflix acted that's exactly what they did.
Another reason is the wording use in the blog post. They hike the price wish come less than a year from a previous price increase, offer no added benefit and call it a "terrific deal". What kind of BS is that?
They hike the price not 10% or 20% but 50%-80% and gives you what in return? NOTHING that's right they said the hike increase are a terrific value but they don't add any additional value at all.
People will pay but they need to feel they are getting something in return. Are we going to get better streaming content? If so when? Tell us what to expect and we may understand. Treat us a dumb sheep and we will go.
I currently subscribe to the 1 Blu-ray out plus streaming for $11.99 +tax. And starting September that was going to be $17.98 +tax.
I said it was going to be because I am canceling the Blu-ray disc portion and sticking with streaming FOR NOW.
The reasoning for this. I watch one Netflix movie a week. So the extra $10 I paid for the blu-ray disc part translates to $2.50 a movie. If I rent those movies at Redbox at $1.50 I still save $4 and if I rent less I save even more.
The savings are not huge and we are not cheap bastards but we like to see value for what we paid for not just see price hike after price hike without any added value. And most important of all we like to see appreciation for our loyalty.
Read my post on how to get free Redbox movie rental.
