Tumblr vs Posterous My Vote Goes To

There has been a lot of noise about Tumblr some bad some good but for the most good.

But in my opinion Tumblr is over rated. I mean is a very good blogging service but my no means is the best.

I have try all available platforms out there Blogger, MovableType, Wordpress, Posterous and many more.

And here is my take. All of them have key advantages and disadvantages. But I want to talk of the two most similar Tumblr and Posterous.

Both platform are designed for social bloggers in mind and they are good at it. But I only hear about Tumblr and very little about Posterous wish I think offer a better service.

Posterous does what Tumblr do but with a better interface, better mobile app and solid hosting after all Posterous is a Rackspace service wish is a $6 billion hosting company and not a startup like Tumblr.

Posterous also offer things Tumblr don't like blog importing you can import your blog from many other platform painlessly. Tumblr do not allow any blog importing you have to start from scratch.

Posterous will also push your content to services you chose like Picasa, Flickr, Twitter, Facebook, Ping and many more.

And talking about mobile apps. Well Posterous have it nailed while Tumblr keeps trying to figure it out. Here are two screen shots for the iOS app take alook at the ratings.

iOS App RatingsLike you can see Posterous has an almost perfect rating while Tumblr is at 2.5. Still Tumblr have more ratings 972 vs 175 on the Posterous app.

In my opinion Posterous is way better than Tumblr but Tumblr has receive the media coverage and the hipster factor. But I bet that if you try Tumblr and Posterous side by side you will stick with Posterous.

And in case you ask. No this website is not hosted on Posterous. I use SquareSpace for this site as SquareSpace is more than just a blogging platform is a full website development platform (and a paid one).

But I do have a blog at Posterous OCB I use it for general blogging stuff like pics.

In short the best available FREE platform for blogs is Posterous
