Facebook Is Robbing Your Phones Contacts
Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 8:08PM
Omar Morales Here is another thumbs down for Facebook's privacy. And this one is a pretty big one. They had robbed all of your real world contacts from your mobile phone.
If you had ever accessed Facebook using any of their mobile app like the one for iPhone and Androids among others then they have all your contacts.
Yes that's right you did not consented to it and even if people you have on your phone do not have Facebook accounts their personal details are now on a Facebook server somewhere.
At least there is something you can do. Follow this steps to undo the robbery from Facebook.
- Visit facebook.com from a PC and log in
- in the top-right corner of the screen, click on Account and then Edit Friends
- In the menu on the left side of the screen, click on Contacts
- Here, you will see that each and every one of your contacts in Address Book are listed along with their phone numbers… wipe the look of shock and disgust from your face
- On the right side of the screen, click on the “this page” link
- Follow the instructions on this page — you’ll have to disable contact-sync in Facebook’s mobile app if it’s enabled — and click the Remove button
