Is LG Launching A Proxy Battle Against Apple [lawsuit]

Here is something interesting. Today Apple have a fresh new lawsuit courtesy of a company call Operating System Solutions LLC. This company is claiming that Apple violate a patent related to the fast boot up time in any Mac with OS X.
Operating System Solutions LLC is suing Apple claiming that Apple violates its patent RE840,092 “Method for Quickly Booting a Computer System,” the patent is extremely broad and questionable here is a description:
“A method for fast booting a computer system, comprising the steps of: A. performing a power on self test (POST) of basic input output system (BIOS) when the system is powered on or reset is requested; B. checking whether a boot configuration information including a system booting state which was created while executing a previous normal booting process exists or not; C. storing the boot configuration information from execution of the POST operation before loading a graphic interface (GUI) program, based on the checking result; and D. loading the graphic user interface (GUI) program.”
We can discard this as just another troll but there is something more to it. The patent in question belonged to LG another long time Apple partner in the display and other components business but like Samsung also a competitor in the smartphone market.
While no evidence has surfaced that Operating System Solutions LLC is related to LG we have to wonder if LG is behind this latest lawsuit. Maybe they don’t want to go in the open like Samsung and risk loosing some business from Apple but at the same time they want to hurt them a little.
Or it can just be that LG realizing that this patent was so broad that it will probably won’t hold if challenge decided to get rid of it and because troll are always in the hunt for patent like this it was inevitable.
Either way it raises some eyebrows.
