Squarespace Vs Wordpress: What I Have Decided

Omar Morales I have been a long time SquareSpace user and for the most part I have been really happy. But I wanted to explore other options one of them been Wordpress.com. While I definitely need to do more testing and it will take a while so far I am not switching and here is why:
SquareSpace let me do what I want with my site I set up my own guidelines and while Wordpress guidelines are fine what could change in the future may not. SquareSpace is also a lot faster than Wordpress on the publishing side. Creating a post or modifying the site is much faster than on Wordpress.com
Wordpress has a lot more templates than SquareSpace but once you pick one there isn't much you can format to make it work your way. While SquareSpace has less templates (V6 promise a revolution on templates) you can easily modify many aspect of them including CSS.
Price wise Wordpress have the advantage if I go with SquareSpace basic plan and I pay for a year I will pay $144.00 and if I go with Wordpress with custom domain ($12), Custom design ($30) & No Ads ($29.97) I will have to pay a grand total of $71.97 I can even subsidize that further by dealing with some ads on my post and using the standard designs in which case I will only pay $12 a year.
On the price side Wordpress definitely have an advantage and that's one of the reason to consider a change as on SquareSpace I am not on the Basic plan but on the Advance one where I pay $240 a year. But SquareSpace offer so much that is hard to move to Wordpress just based on price. And with Version 6 (V6) looking to drop soon I will stick with SquareSpace until then. I want to see if it can live to the hype.
